From Turin to Monferrato, land of wines and saints, up to Canelli, so dear to Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio
1st day: arrival in Turin by own vehicle or by hired bus. The first stop in the Savoy capital is the Parco del Valentino, an authentic green lung of the city which extends along the river Po and which preserves some peculiarities worthy of an in-depth visit. In fact, there is the Medieval Castle, built in 1884 for the Italian General Exposition, in the style of the famous Fenis Castle, in the Aosta Valley. Inside it houses the medieval village with artisan shops where you can relive the life and atmosphere of past centuries. Next to it there is the Rocky Garden, a small oasis of greenery and tranquility, in which numerous water features, streams, streets, benches and rest points, plants and flower beds are scattered throughout the year. Lastly, the Castello del Valentino, still known today as one of the most magnificent Royal Residences. We will then move to the nearby Monte dei Cappuccini, where you can admire one of the most suggestive views of the city. After lunch, free walk in the city center in absolute freedom starting from Piazza Castello, where the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama are located, continuing alongside the Teatro Regio under the arcades of Via Po until you reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto and admire a landscape from postcard with the Gran Madre di Dio, the Monte dei Cappuccini and the river Po. Then, along the other side of the arcades of via Po, you return to Piazza Castello to take via Roma, the most prestigious street in the city with its shops fashion, perfect for a little shopping, and you arrive in Piazza San Carlo, a true elegant living room of the city, where in the center stands the statue of the Caval d'Brons, dedicated to Emanuele Filiberto of Savoia and in the background the two twin churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo. It is then obligatory to end the day with a "bicerin" in one of the many historic cafes in the city. At the end, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: after breakfast, departure for Castelnuovo Don Bosco where we will make a first stop at Tenuta Tamburnin, whose origins date back to the second half of the 1700s. A long and majestic avenue of centuries-old acacias whose pruning branches were once used as support poles in the vineyards and today as fuel for heating the company buildings, it is the entrance to the estate, made up of 20 hectares of land, 9 of which are vineyards, 2 are hazelnut trees, meadows, woods and a small vegetable garden for family production. Here we will visit the cellar and at the end tasting of their fine wines. On foot we will then reach in a few minutes the light green Giant Bench, which is part of the Big Benches project, started in 2010 and conceived by the American artist Chris Bangle. Next stop is the Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, in Albugnano, a religious building in Romanesque and Gothic style, one of the most important medieval monuments in Piedmont. Stop for lunch in a restaurant. Following Passerano Marmorito, the birthplace of the great Giorgio Faletti, with its medieval village dominated by the castle. Finally, Castelnuovo Don Bosco to visit the citadel of the Salesians, the famous Colle Don Bosco, where you will immerse yourself in the life of St. John Bosco, the pride of this corner of Piedmont and very famous throughout the world for his works in favor of youth. At the end, direction Cherasco for check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3rd day: after breakfast, departure for Coazzolo by own vehicle or by hired bus. In the midst of lush vineyards is the Chapel of the Beata Maria Vergine del Carmine, which the English artist David Tremlett has transformed into a work of art thanks to his magical wall drawing technique. We continue our journey towards the fairy-tale Relais San Maurizio, on the heights of Santo Stefano Belbo, and here, really, we enter an enchanted world where the third work by Tremlett is found with the interior of the chapel frescoed in the typical style of the artist English. All around a spectacular park with millenary plants, modern works of art and breathtaking views of the vineyards below. Typical lunch in a farmhouse in Canelli, where you can walk the "road of lovers", a romantic path inspired by the sweethearts of Raymond Peynet, which culminates in the Unesco Belvedere. Finally we will reach the Giant Bench of the Muscat-colored Big Bench project, surrounded by vineyards of the famous wine.
