From Turin to Royal Palaces full of history, colors, flavors and landscapes of the Langhe Unesco Heritage
1st day: arrival in Turin by own vehicle or by hired bus. The first stop in the Savoy capital is the Parco del Valentino, an authentic green lung of the city which extends along the river Po and which preserves some peculiarities worthy of an in-depth visit. In fact, there is the Medieval Castle, built in 1884 for the Italian General Exposition, in the style of the famous Fenis Castle, in the Aosta Valley. Inside it houses the medieval village with artisan shops where you can relive the life and atmosphere of past centuries. Next to it there is the Rocky Garden, a small oasis of greenery and tranquility, in which numerous water features, streams, streets, benches and rest points, plants and flower beds are scattered throughout the year. Lastly, the Castello del Valentino, still known today as one of the most magnificent Royal Residences. We will then move to the nearby Monte dei Cappuccini, where you can admire one of the most suggestive views of the city. After lunch, free walk in the city center in absolute freedom starting from Piazza Castello, where the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama are located, continuing alongside the Teatro Regio under the arcades of Via Po until you reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto and admire a landscape from postcard with the Gran Madre di Dio, the Monte dei Cappuccini and the river Po. Then, along the other side of the arcades of via Po, you return to Piazza Castello to take via Roma, the most prestigious street in the city with its shops fashion, perfect for a little shopping, and you arrive in Piazza San Carlo, a true elegant living room of the city, where in the center stands the statue of the Caval d'Brons, dedicated to Emanuele Filiberto of Savoia and in the background the two twin churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo. It is then obligatory to end the day with a "bicerin" in one of the many historic cafes in the city. At the end, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: after breakfast, departure for Venaria Reale. We will visit the famous Palace, designed by the architect Amedeo di Castellamonte at the behest of Duke Carlo Emanuele II who wanted to make it his hunting lodge and built in a very short time, from 1658 to 1679. It is certainly one of the largest and most beautiful Savoy residences. Inside, the famous Diana Gallery, which connected the king's apartment to that of the heir to the throne, is one of the most surprising and spectacular rooms in the entire complex. Also of considerable importance are the sumptuous gardens of the complex which represent the flagship of this magnificent building with the spaces of the English Gardens, that of Flowers and Roses, and the area of the groves. Followed by a photo stop at the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, a Savoy residence dedicated to hunting and court parties. Lunch in a typical Piedmontese trattoria in Casalgrasso. In the afternoon, visit the Racconigi Castle, a fundamental experience to understand the creed of the Savoy family. In fact, the Royal Household's attachment to this residence was such that its presence can still be felt today. The richness of the environments and the majesty of the surrounding park make the visit always different and full of surprises. At the end, direction Cherasco for check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3rd day: after breakfast, departure for La Morra. The town is included in the list of Unesco world heritage sites, as part of the site The Wine Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. The municipality is also awarded the "Orange Flag" award from the Touring Club which identifies small villages of excellence in the Italian hinterland. It owes its fame to the Unesco Belvedere in Piazza Castello, a balcony that is unique in the world for its beauty and breathtaking panorama. Along a road dotted with vineyards, you reach Novello, a small village where the Church of San Michele is worth a visit, with fine interiors and the neo-Gothic Castle, which dominates the fortress of Novello, high above the vineyards and woods, a sure visual cornerstone of this part of Langa. An interesting walk along the alleys of the village, dotted with small craft shops, where the traditions of the past have been kept alive to the present day and where you can still admire the old works of the Langhe peasant tradition. Lunch in a typical eighteenth-century farmhouse, which has kept its original structure, where you can taste Langhe specialties prepared with style and tradition. Followed by Monforte d'Alba, a small medieval village in the Langa del Barolo, which has recently become part of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Steep streets that rise up to its square and the famous open-air amphitheater, with a view that sweeps over the surrounding vineyards: a small but wonderful village that holds a thousand-year history. Not far away Castiglione Falletto, dominated by the presence of the castle of medieval origin, whose central tower, high and massive, makes it clearly visible even from neighboring towns. Last stop, the Cedar of Lebanon, located on a hill in the Annunziata district of the municipality of La Morra, is admired for its majesty and for the natural context in which it is inserted: an authentic belvedere that reaches the Alpine chain, with a view of the vines of Nebbiolo and the villages of Langhe and Roero, recognizable by their towers and castles. A complete itinerary that gives the visitor the feeling of being totally immersed in the pure Langhe tradition.
