- 3 days/2 nights -
possibility of a guide only for groups of, at least, 10 people
From Turin to the Pinerolese, having as its main theme Bela Rosin, countess of Miraflores
1st day: arrival in Turin by own vehicle or by hired bus. The first stop in the Savoy capital is the Parco del Valentino, an authentic green lung of the city which extends along the river Po and which preserves some peculiarities worthy of an in-depth visit. In fact, there is the Medieval Castle, built in 1884 for the Italian General Exposition, in the style of the famous Fenis Castle, in the Aosta Valley. Inside it houses the medieval village with artisan shops where you can relive the life and atmosphere of past centuries. Next to it is the Rocky Garden, a small oasis of greenery and tranquility, in which numerous water features, streams, streets, benches and rest points, plants and flower beds are scattered throughout the year. Lastly, the Castello del Valentino, still known today as one of the most magnificent Royal Residences. We will then move to the nearby Monte dei Cappuccini, where you can admire one of the most suggestive views of the city. After lunch, free walk in the city center in absolute freedom starting from Piazza Castello, where the Royal Palace and Palazzo Madama are located, continuing alongside the Teatro Regio under the arcades of Via Po until you reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto and admire a landscape from postcard with the Great Mother of God, the Monte dei Cappuccini and the river Po. Then, along the other side of the arcades of via Po, you return to Piazza Castello to take via Roma, the most prestigious street in the city with its shops fashion, perfect for a little shopping, and arrive in Piazza San Carlo, a true elegant living room of the city, where in the center stands the statue of the Caval d'Brons, dedicated to Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia and in the background the two twin churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo. It is then obligatory to end the day with a "bicerin" in one of the many historic cafes in the city. At the end, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: after breakfast, departure for the Mirafiori district, which houses a jewel often forgotten by the classic tourist circuits: the Bela Rosin Mausoleum, built on the model of the famous Pantheon in Rome. It was wanted by the Countess's children as a symbolic reconstruction of the place where she should have been buried next to her husband, Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, the first king of Italy. Not far away, then, a photo stop at the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, a Savoy residence dedicated to hunting and court parties. Direction Pinerolo, where there will be free time to visit the city, an interesting village with a thousand-year history, famous for being the home of the Italian Cavalry. Pinerolo is a small urban center, characterized by a historic center made up of medieval alleys, ancient buildings and traditional shops. Special mention for Piazza San Donato with its Cathedral and the Historical Museum of the Cavalry. Lunch in a typical Piedmontese trattoria. Continuing our itinerary we arrive at the Rocca di Cavour Nature Reserve, an alpine tip emerging for about 162 meters from the alluvial deposits of the Po Valley. From its summit you can enjoy an incomparable 360° panorama of mountains and plains, from the Maritime Alps to the Pennine Alps.
Going down towards the valley we meet the Abbey of Santa Maria, whose Landolfian crypt preserves, inside, the oldest altar in Piedmont.
Last stop Staffarda with its famous Cistercian Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria, set in a beautiful landscape framed by a wide circle of mountains, surmounted by the imposing and majestic "King of Stone", the Monviso. Inside you can admire the abbey church with its beautiful cloister, and other rooms that represent a concentration of art, history and architecture for a dip back in time in the Piedmontese Middle Ages. At the end, direction Cherasco for check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3rd day: after breakfast, departure for Serralunga d'Alba by own vehicle or hired bus. The town is dominated by the fourteenth-century noble castle with an architectural structure unique in Italy. Visit of the castle, where, from the windows on the third floor, you have a spectacular 360 degree view of the Langhe up to the Alps. Continue to Grinzane Cavour to visit the castle, with a quadrilateral plan, positioned on a hill and surrounded by vineyards. Inside there are suggestive halls, which house a permanent museum of peasant civilization and the Regional Enoteca. Following lunch in a farmhouse in Montelupo Albese with a typical Langhe menu. After lunch, a short walk to the Big Bench nr. 100. The tour will end at Tenuta Fontanafredda, a gift from Vittorio Emanuele II to the Bella Rosin, walking in the park among ancient trees, vineyards and an idyllic lake.
